Birthday Boy!

So Thursday this past week was August's big 2 year old birthday and we've been building up to it for a couple of weeks, teaching him how to sing Happy Birthday and telling he's going to be a big boy, etc., etc., so when Thursday finally came and I sang Happy Birthday to him first thing in the morning, he was all excited! I made his birthday cake and since I wanted to get most of it done Wednesday, I was hard pressed to keep his hands out of it until Thursday night when he was finally able to blow the candles out and "dig in the dirt"!

We had just a small family birthday with the exception of having Ellen McMillan there with us and I'm really glad she was, because I think August had a lot more fun having someone his own size there to play with him. And she was a trooper! Auntie Kelly and her friend "Auntie Ginger", along with Scott and Kelly's cousin "Auntie Lynne" and her boyfriend "Uncle Dean" were there to help us celebrate as well and we had a lot of fun. As you can see from the mess, August had no problem opening the presents this year once we showed him how to do it. He finally got down that he was turning 2 and now says "be 2".

This picture is really sweet!

Earlier in the day, I took August out for a special birthday "brunch" and so we went to Wildwood where he ordered his own "eggs, bacon, apple juice" (in that order) and ate a lot of it all up. The lady gave him a free breakfast because it was his birthday. Then we went to Goodwill so I could finish trying to find his Halloween costume and while I was there I found the kids book section!!! All these old books that I grew up with were there!!!! And for only 99 cents!!! I was ecstatic! So I had to buy a few.
Then it was back to the house for a nap and get ready for the party. All in all it was a really nice day - not as hectic as I thought it was going to be. And it's over until next year which Scott is already talking about!!! I told him to "lets just wait until then!!"
