I'm here!

Really? Has it really been that long since I posted?  Oh dear.  I kept thinking it's only been a few months.  Unfortunately, a few months can turn into - oh maybe 6 or more! Well, sorry is defintely a must, but I will not linger there.

On to what's been going on shall we?
Life.  Life has been happening here in the Wegner land and it's all been pretty good.  Since the last time I posted back in (cough cough) September......(pause for dramatics.....)  We've had 2 birthdays, one Thanksgiving at the Great Wolf Lodge with a fun visit from G & G Wegner & Aunty Eva included, Christmas at home with our kiddies, a much needed visit to Arizona for some family time, an awesome concert with "The Hoppers", another cruise for the hubbs and I (this time a very sunny place), which means we also had a nice visit from my mom and dad who came and stayed with the kiddos.  Oh, we have also had our microwave break down the day after Christmas, food poisoning, a nasty virus including an ER trip with blood work for a certain 5 year old and just last Sunday our water heater decided it needed to rest and be delivered to a better place making room for a new one.  Life just comes at you doesn't it?  But its all good because guess what? If things weren't happening, that would mean we weren't breathing and fully alive!

August is a very precocious 5. He is LOVING pre-school and says something extrodinary or hilarious on any given day.  We've had lots of life lessons this year with him which is just a precursor to what it will really be like when he's in school and getting older.  But he's still our lovey boy - into Monster Trucks, dinosaurs (still) and his current obsession - LEGOS. Was wondering when those would kick in for him because he has NEVER been interested in them until just recently!

Grace is a most up and coming 3.  Whoever coined the term "3 turning 12" would have described this crazy girl to the T!  She talks all.the.time. No joke - and she knows exactly what she wants to say.  She loves to dance around the house - although lately we've had to throw in the "no attitude while dancing around the house" piece.  She also loves to torment her brother, boss around the dogs, tell everyone she can "do it myself", and every other crazy thing you can think of.  If I thought August was going to keep me on my toes, I now have two of them in my home. (and people wonder why I walk around with a dazed look...... :0))

Trying out the new camera on 3rd St.

Construction Worker?

August - Thanksgiving (you see the yellow wrist band? That was from the GWL and he wouldn't take it off for like 5 days!)

These next few pictures are from Arizona - oh my we had lots of fun! Too much to try to write today.

The Cousins.

Look at this awesome bundle of squeeziness!

And finally - of course the day after the first day of Spring, we get snow in Oregon.....go figure.  We're waiting of course for some nice weather which seems to have decided to evade us for a few weeks!
Happy Spring, Happy 2012, Happy March - almost April, Merry Christmas, Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Birthday and.......lets see........
did I miss anything?  Yeah probably, but until the next time......

(And see this is why I haven't been blogging - this took me almost an hour to do.....uughh!)
To a shorter and more current post to come!!!

Oh to remember.....

As I've been looking through "blogland" today there are oh so many reminders to "never forget" what this day of days is.  The sacrifices that were made, the choices that were made and the promises that were made.  How have you spent this day?  Maybe in a church service filled with the remembrances of such a short time ago.....the echos of "don't forget" ringing from choruses around you.

And yet, do you really remember what there is to remember?  Pastor Foley preached a sermon this morning about September 11 as I'm sure did many pastors.  But what he said struck a chord with me.  Do not forget there is evil, but in that, remember.......we have the answer.  We may not be able to stop the evil that is bound to happen here on this earth, but we CAN give the answer to a hurting world in need.

I personally remember exactly where I was when I received the news about the 1st tower being hit and I specifically remember hearing from someone the instant the second tower was hit.  Surreal.  But the reality of it all never hit me until I actually SAW the footage of it all.  And with horror and dread I watched that footage.  Even today, 10 years later, it still makes me catch my breath at the enormity of what actually happened.

I am so thankful that we have days like this to remind us to stop....... stop and say thank you,   stop and be grateful for the small things around us.  Thankful for family, children, husbands and friends.  And even more thankful that God gave people on this earth a calling to be warriors - warriors on the battlefield, on our streets, in our city governments and most importantly behind our pulpits.

Thank you to all of the men and women who sacrificed that day and continue to sacrifice for my safety.  Thank you to all the families who lost loved ones that day for the sacrifice you have made through these years.

We WILL never forget.

Baby Bird

So there was something sort of neat that happened this spring.  It was cool to capture in pictures I guess, but it ended up sort of sad.  Anyway - we have this tree in our yard that is home to a set of robins who migrate their way back to that tree every year.  They use the same nest and usually we see a couple of babies after a few weeks of them hanging around.

So this spring, there were three babies and we were just being able to see the parents starting to feed them.  You would see their little beaks wide open every time the parents would come by.  Well - we're not quite sure what happened - maybe another bird tried to disrupt the nest or something but one morning I went out and this is what I saw.......

Yep - one little lone baby all by itself, nestled next to the logs that border our grass and directly underneath where the nest is in the tree.  Well the thought was - maybe we can put the bird back up there.  But......the nest is about 15 or more feet in the air.  Not happening.  Next we thought maybe we should try to put it in a box or something.  Nope - read on the internet to just leave him be.  So we did.  And this is what I caught about 4 hours later.  (I was worried the mom and dad wouldn't come back by, but they did.)

So this was on a Monday.  And that went on for about two days.  By around Wednesday night/Thursday morning, we woke up and this is what we saw......

He had started to walk and had made his way up towards the house.  Cool, huh?  Well it was cool except we didn't see the mom and dad very much.......hence the next picture.......he doesn't look too good

And by the afternoon he was gone.  So the process of life goes....interesting to see the process, but sort of sad to see the ending too.  At any rate, we "disposed" of it before the kids woke up from their nap and told them what happened.

Glad to say it wasn't too hard to help them understand, just so so thankful it was a bird and not something or someone else.

Yes it's been almost 6 months

And no I don't feel bad. However, I was realizing the other day that I haven't had a good way to document anything regarding my little girl like I did with August at this age, so maybe I should start up blogging again. Hmmmmm. We'll have to see. Anyway - here's a picture heavy post to let you know what we've been up to. Starting from where I left off in February thru to about the beginning of June.  Enjoy!!!
