The City of McMinnville put together a thank you event for all their volunteers and opened it up to the whole community. And it just happened to be at the park right down the street from our house! How convenient! So we went and they had a hot air balloon, fire trucks, police cars, a helicopter, police dogs and THE COOLEST drum "band" you've ever heard. August loved the helicopter and the fire engine of course and we got to watch them demonstrate how they train police dogs. August wasn't too sure about the police dogs because they showed them actually "attacking" one of their trainees, so that scared him a little bit, but he had a great time anyway.

August loves to be the driver!
Cool hot air balloon - the line was horrendous!
A few weeks later, we were able to take him to the Portland Children's museum which was just the coolest place I've seen for kids. That was where the "Bob the Builder" thing came in, but they had all sorts of other activities for ages about 1 to 10 or so. Lots of crafts and stuff that older kids could do, but lots of stuff for the little guys too. August liked brushing the "dinosaur's" teeth (it was really an alligator but he gets them confused sometimes :)), and playing with the puppets. The water activity was pretty cool too. He had a good time and Scott and I will definitely be taking him back there again.
Playing with the puppets.
Building a wall with magnetic rocks. (Believe me, they thought of everything at this place!)
Riding one of the tractors.
These trucks are the bomb!
Loving the water!
And finally, Uncle Kelly and Auntie Sarah were here for a week and we had a blast! First we took them down to the coast for a couple of days where Kelly and Scott got to go fishing - and caught a load of bass! Then we met up with my Uncle Carl and Aunt Serena and our cousin Karl and their foster child, Sammie. August had a blast playing around with Karl and Sammie and we adults had a nice time "catching up". Then we took them to the state fair down in Salem and watched the horse pulls and the dog show. Kelly got some awesome pictures that I haven't loaded onto my computer yet, but I will try to add them later if I can. Then they had to go home, but it sure was a blast!
Kickin' it with Uncle Kelly and Daddy after their hard day fishing! (Note - something hysterical happened that day that I just remembered. Scott has all his "fishing gear" if you will, and so he is all prepared to go. They are five minutes from leaving the hotel to get to the boat and Scott goes to put his shoes on and he has brought 2 left shoes!!!! 5:30 in the morning and there is this huge roll of laughter because Scott can't believe he brought 2 left shoes! So he had to wear his slippers all day which, let me tell you was probably FREEZING until about 12:30 in the afternoon!!! Anyway - it was funny!)
August couldn't wait to get his hands on that tractor!
August, Sammie and Karl eating ice cream.
My Uncle Carl, Sammie and August.(Note - Sammie was sitting still for once!!! :O))

hey I wanted to tell you something you can do later on once this post gets "old" and has moved down a ways... (I say that because I don't like to do this until I know everyone has seen my most recent post...) but anyways... you can change the dates on your post and put the actual date the event occured... and then blogger will put your posts in chronological order for you. I don't know if I explained it right... for example... when I started my blog, I went back and blogged all about Natalee's birth, 1st month, 2nd month, etc... but when I was posting, the date showed up almost a year later... so I went back thru each post and edited the date to be the end of each month I was summarizing.... hope that makes sense! Sometimes I'll post an even a week or two after it occured... and just go down to the date and "past-date" it so-to-speak... (: I'm sure you're throughly confused now! Sorry!
o ya. how you do it: Click "Post Options" on the bottom left of the post and there's a place for the date. You can even Post-Date things... sometimes I do that if I have several posts to do... I'll post one... and then have the next few appear one each day for the next few days. I do that because I tend to wait a week and then have like 4 or 5 posts to add.. .and I have to just have 4 or 5 new in one day.. I like to spread them out! Ok. now that I've written a book... bye! (:
ps We need to get together!!!
