The front entrance to the lodge.
So this year was supposed to be the year that we all as a family go to Disneyland and meet my family for a week of overpriced but yummy food and lots of fun rides and shows! However, considering two of us were going to be absolutely huge pregnant, Kelly and Sarah decided they weren't going to go, and mom and dad didn't want to miss their baby coming in case she came early and after thinking about how far along I would be at that point, I decided I wasn't going to go either sooooo........I said all of that to say that this year Scott's dad treated us to a couple of days at this water park/resort that is up in the Centralia area in Washington. The Great Wolf Lodge!!

The roads on the way to Seattle.

This is the side of the freeway looking at the Willamette River - it was crazy!

Look at the stackup!
So I'm going to try to keep this short, but there is so much to the story so here goes! Considering that when we were going to leave (Sunday, December 21) there was about 1 foot of snow on the ground, and chains were REQUIRED in Portland. Go figure! So we started out on our little trek, chains on our 4x4 and chains on Kelly's Nissan Altima (that she is so glad she had since it was front wheel drive!) and drove REALLY slow all the way up there. What should have taken us about 2 1/2 hours actually took us a total of about 7 hours (which included a lunch stop). Surprisingly, August did really well sitting in the car. Of course, it always helps when Grandma is sitting next to you and entertaining you the whole way!
We got there and this place is so cool! It has a restaurant, grill/lounge, ice cream shop, kids room with crafts and toys, a teen "club", and a HUGE water park. Believe me, you don't have to leave the place for anything and of course it was good we didn't have to because of all the snow!
The living area of our room - love the decor!
Our room was 2 bedroom, 2 bath with a living "area" with a pull out couch. It was huge! And the decor is too cool. I'll let the pictures do all the talking for that. August had such a fun time in the water! This was really his first time to be "let loose" to play in the water because there is an area he could walk in and go slide. He must have slid down the slide about 100 times.
Cute picture huh?

I LOVE this picture because this is so how Scott and Kelly are all the time! Love the smiles!

Blowing bubbles.

Great picture of August and Aunty Kelly - nice legs Grandpa!!!
One of the toys for the kids to play on.
The water slides for the "big" kids were all outside - imagine the fun!
There was also an arcade with games and rides - August checking out the ice cream truck.
Playing a game with Daddy.
We spent 2 great days there and then came home the day before Christmas eve. What a great adventure! Thanks a bunch to Grandpa and Grandma Wegner for treating us!
