......you bet - the day after Thanksgiving - otherwise known as BLACK FRIDAY (dun dun dun duuuuuummmmm - my version of scary music). Although I don't have pictures - it was a day worth noting and so unfortunately I'm a whole week late, but barring the lateness, it's still a fun story!!!! So bear with me!
We got this lovely ad from guess where?? Anyone??? Of course!! WalMart and wouldn't you know there were several things in there that Scott and I decided - we could possibly use them here or there....so we thought we would brave the storm on Friday morning - 5 am, even though I was absolutely exhausted from getting everything ready, cooking, cleaning etc. But I was going to be a good sport and go along!!!
Well, the night started somewhere around 11:30, about 45 minutes after Scott and I went to bed. August called - potty time! So up I go to take him potty. Back to bed. 12:30 rolls around, scrape, scrape, woof - Grady (our dog) needs to potty, so up I go, take her potty. Back to bed. 1:45 - August calls - never wakes up, but is really restless. Well I had noted when I put him to bed around 9:45 that he was a little warm, so I went in and felt him - he was pretty warm, but was still sleeping. About 3:00 he is full blown awake, wanting a drink of something and had a temperature - (those darn molars!!!). So considering that I was going to get up around 3:30/3:45 anyway to get out the door at about 4:30, I stayed awake, but so did August. Scott and I decided - he would just go to WalMart and I would drug our kid (JUST KIDDING - only Tylenol) and stay home to let him sleep.
So I get a call around 4:50 (meanwhile, noting that I haven't slept almost all night what with potty breaks etc.) "Steph - this is psycho - I've never seen so many people at WalMart in my life! The whole parking lot is FULL!" So I told Scott - it's not worth it, just come home, but he decided he would brave the storm. After cutting in line (yes there was a few unhappy people) and waiting in several different lines, he accomplished his goal and was home around 6:45/7:00. Meanwhile, I've had 2 or 3 other phone calls from him and still have not really slept. But long story short, Scott was a trooper and informed me that I would have never made it, especially if we'd taken August with us. I was a little disappointed cuz I thought it would be something fun to look back on, but also glad, because I probably would have cried at some point because I was so tired!
Needless to say, we had an eventful day and we'll have something to look back on - and we got some heck-of-a deals for sure!!!
