So last Thursday (a week ago) Scott called me during the day and said we were going to go out to eat and I was like - Oh. Okay. I already had dinner planned, had pulled the chicken out etc., etc., and to be honest was just not looking forward to another "family night at Izzys" if you know what I mean? So, as a side note, I've been lurking at a particular website that is helping me start some new housecleaning "habits" (they're working by the way) and on this particular day I was very glad that I'd been implementing my new habits!!!
Ok, on with my story. So Scott get's home, says he's going to mow the lawn (huh - I thought we were going to eat??? It's about 5:30 - and by the time we get ready and go it will be 6:00 - we eat dinner around 6:00/6:30). Okay.....this is after I already have everything ready for the kids, Grace has had a bath and is in her jammies cuz she'll probably fall asleep on the way home from the restaurant, and I'm just waiting for August to get up. Then he comes in, takes a shower, and sits on the couch and says - oh we don't have to leave for another 1/2 or so cuz we have reservations at 6:45. Okay - now what do I do for the next 1/2 hour? (Remember, I'm not really wanting to go out in the first place!)
So at around 6:40, there's a knock on the door and I go and answer and it's Andrea L. - a girl from church who watches our house for us while we're out of town. No big deal, but WHY is she here??? And then Scott says, are you ready to go and I'm like, huh??? (It takes me a while sometimes). Then it slowly dawns on me, he set up a babysitter and we get to go out WITHOUT the kids!!!! Now mind you, for some of you this may not be a big deal, but we have gone out by ourselves without kids a total of 1 times in the last 3 years, so this is a big deal to me!
And in comes the clean house........I am SOOOOO glad my house was clean!!! Of course I hadn't gone grocery shopping so had not much in the house in the way of quick stuff to eat, but I hope Andrea didn't care too much! I had jello......and peanut butter! What else do you need?
Then Scott asks where to go and of course I REALLY want to go to Kame, but don't want to spend the money required to go to Kame, so we settled on the Brew Pub which is not as expensive as Kame, but a huge step up from Ruby Tuesdays!
Then we went to a little ice cream shop and Scott had a banana split - a HUGE banana split! And I had an ice cream cone. ALL WITHOUT KIDS!!! I was dying! Now all of you know I LOVE my kids to death, but I REALLY needed this break! So big huge kudos to my wonderful hubby for thinking it up on his own and planning it even without me knowing!!!
We have to do it again.....tomorrow!! Just kidding :) And sorry - no pictures - the camera is always in my diaper bag and guess what? It was at the house!.....with the kids and Andrea!!! Oh well. It was a blast and I can't wait until the next one!

WONDERFUL!!! GREAT JOB SCOTT!!!!! There's nothing like a pre-planned surprise dinner. I think Freddy's kind of done it once.
We don't do date nights also very often, so I totally relate to your excitement and enjoyment. Good for you! :)
The other day Johnny and I were telling each other the things that we do for each other that have meant the most to us and for me, it was the time Johnny did the exact same thing. Arranged a babysitter and planned the whole night! It is heaven! (: So so thoughtful... and that's what we need! (:
Keep it up Scott! (:
