At any rate, how this story begins is we have/had this tree that the previous owners stuck right in the middle of the front yard - probably thinking that was a really good spot for it. (????who knows what some people think) At any rate, with how our house is positioned, the front lawn doesn't get hardly any sun during the winter and as this tree has gotten bigger and bigger, so has the moss problem in our front yard. Now - those of you who live in areas that are too dry to even know what moss is......let me tell you.....it's nasty stuff up here and it likes to grow everywhere the sun doesn't shine. (Oh!!!! That didn't sound good - so sorry!! You get what I mean right? Like outside where the sun doesn't shine-oh never mind!)
So at this point we actually do not have a lawn in the front - we actually have mostly moss. GREAT!!! So Stephanie gets the brilliant idea - let's just cut the tree down and get rid of it! And Scott decides that he thinks it's a pretty good idea! So our plot is to wait until Scott's mom and dad come in July so that his dad can make sure we do it right!!!! :o)
I have to say that I am SOOOOO glad Herb was here because we might have been up a creek if it was me and Scott trying to do this, but what is absolutely hysterical about all the pictures I took.....well....you'll see. Here goes!
Ok - Sorry Herb, but I had to throw this one in here because it's one of the only ones with the WHOLE tree in it.
Cutting the starting cut.
Notice - safety first with the goggles on! Go Herb.
Scott had a REALLY hard job. (Remember our plot? I think this was Scott's part of the plot!!!)
Workin' it! Remember - Safety First!
You can see the tree coming down now! Yeah!
Whew! It's down! Now the REAL job begins! Having to cut it to pieces!
Scott was working REALLY hard at this point! (if you notice he is drinking Starbucks - he was working up a sweat I think!)
There it is - all cut up and ready to be loaded. By the way - it took Scott and his dad 6 trips to the recycle place to get rid of this thing, plus some of our other yard debris!!!
And Finally - a picture of the lumberjack for the day. Now remember how I kept saying "Safety first" and we had the goggles on - even a glove at one point. But I HAD to keep laughing because the WHOLE time, Herb has those rubber slippers on his feet!!!! Maybe it was just striking me funny - but it just cracked me up. By the way - for those of you who may not be Hawaiian saavy - he's not flipping you off - he's giving Shaka!
And so - now we are stuck with a huge tree stump in the middle of the yard, but we're taking necessary measures to get rid of it. So hopefully next year we will have a NICE lawn out front!

I see the humor in "safety first" and think it's hilarious! :)
Our neighbors cut down a tree like that in their yard and after pouring root killer on the stump, digging it up or something and laying down new grass seed you'd never know now that they had a huge tree in the middle of their yard. What is up with that anyway?? Shade, I guess... hhmm...
Had fun catching up on the blogging and seeing how much Grace loves to swing! LOL
That is GREAT!!!!! Stephanie, you are too funny!
