So the other day Scott and I decided we REALLY needed a coffee before our concert on Saturday night so of course we stop at the local Starbucks (our favorite place!). The normal routine is that I tell Scott "surprise me as long as it's fat free/sugar free and decaf"(at this time of night anyway) and I stay in the car with the kids. So the whole time Scott is asking me again what I want, August is yelling in the background.......
"I want a tall chocolate milk with cream!"
"Dad, I want a tall chocolate milk with cream!"
"Dad, Dad!! I want a tall chocolate milk with cream!!"
Scott goes in the store and our little conversation continues.....
Me: August - stop yelling, daddy heard you.
A: Mom, I want a tall chocolate milk,
Me: I know, with cream.
A: Yeah. Mom, where are we going? Are we going to the church concert?
Me: Yes.
A: I don't want to go cuz I will be scared.
Me: No you won't be scared, remember, Luke and Colton and Ashley are going to be singing so we can watch them.
A: Oh.
(at this point Scott comes back out of the store - no coffee yet)
Scott: They ran out of decaf espresso and it will take five minutes for them to start brewing a batch of decaf coffee. Do you still want something?
Me: Yeah, just make it small so I can sleep tonight.
(meanwhile in the back resumes the "Dad, I want a tall etc., etc., etc.)
(Scott closes the door and goes back in the store)
OK THIS IS THE FUNNY PART - STAY WITH ME HERE!
As Scott closes the door, I hear from the back.....
A: (big sigh with a little attitude rolled in there.....if you're a parent, you know what sound I'm talking about) My daddy never listens to me. Oh dear, my parents never listen to me.
(meanwhile I'm busting)
Me: Well if you would start to listen to your dad, maybe he would start listening to you! (is that reverse phsycology?)
A: No one ever listens to me.
Quiet for a time until..............Scott walks out of Starbucks with THREE drinks in his hand, one including a tall chocolate milk with cream.
A: Oh!
Me: See I told you your dad listens to you.

That's a great story! Very cute. That August cracks me up!!!! :)
I like your reverse psychology..It's worked for me before. :)
I had some ladies over for games and fellowship tonight and told them this story. We all got a good laugh out of it. :)
LOL...that was good! But I do have to say that if your going to drink the Starbucks and pay $4 for the cup of coffee go with the cream and sugar!!!! It's ALOT better that way. Thanks for sharing.
Awww that is so cute, and August is so funny.
