So the other day I was looking for something creative to do - now mind you, I have NOT ONE creative bone in my body! Not even my pinky toe! So it was a little bit of a challenge to figure something out that wasn't going to be a HUGE mess, but also be fun for August. So last year, Aunty Kelly bought August a "kids cookbook" and I was leafing through it the other day and saw you a recipe for bread dough with all these cute little characters you can make from the dough and I thought - "oh that would be fun". So..........I cheated (because I CANNOT make bread dough to save my life although I've tried!) I had some frozen bread dough in the freezer and so I pulled out a "log" and let it defrost. When it was ready, I asked August if he wanted to make turtles or hippos or bears. He opted for the turtles. And as you can see, they turned out really cute! I would break the dough apart and give it to him to shape and place. There were a few I had to help him with, but all in all - they turned out great! And we had fun - AND it took up a good hour until nap time when I could let the dough rise properly and then bake it before he woke up. Then of course after he woke up, he got to eat the turtles!! He loved it and for the next couple of days kept asking to "eat a turtle"!
What a cutie guy! I'm figuring out if I channel his creativty, I don't go crazy. It's the days I stay home and we don't "do" anything in particular that I go nuts because he is always wanting to do something. Guess I need to take some time and "figure" some stuff out. Anyway enjoy the picx.

So cute!! The first cookies I ever made by myself were turtles. They had peanut legs and a tail. :)
Great idea!
ohhhhh, those are sweet! You need more kids, Stephanie! I canNOT imagine thinking up something to do...I am always thinking-what MUST get done today, and what can we put off until tomorrow??!;)
You are a great mom- when I had two kids I was probably burying my nose in a book, not thinking up something fun for them to do!! Three cheers for YOU!!
How fun! Think I will "steal" your idea and make those with my day care kids.
