So we have a beautiful lady in our church named Marcia who just LOVES my kids and is just a great person! I really love her a lot. A couple of years ago, she joined the National Guard to help provide a living for her family before she got her great job in the State Pen (yes, she's a jail guard - this lady is one tough cookie!) Anyway - she wasn't sure that she would ever be called up for duty, but last fall, her unit was called up and as of today, they are on their way to Iraq.
As I was thinking about Marcia and just everything she's had to go through to get to this spot in her life, my heart just stopped......it stopped at the thought of her being in Iraq - a war zone - where so many of our troops are right now. I guess I never thought about it really hard (maybe a sign of avoidance on my part), but as I considered what it is that our troops are doing and how they leave their families, their homes, their future is put on hold, and they step into a place where there is so much uncertainty, and they do it for me to live the life I am accustomed to. They do it willingly to provide the freedom I so take for granted. I started to get scared for Marcia (and there is another guy - Tim - who we know as well from her unit that is going also). I just know me, and how much of a wimp I really am. I don't know that I could ever do what she and so many others are doing, but I am SO thankful there are warriors that are in our world to take care of us wimps.
Well, needless to say, this post is a salute to our veterans, to our troops - both home and abroad - and especially a salute to Marcia and Tim. We love you guys and will be praying for you!
We love you Marcia!

Freddy missed going to Iraq by two weeks because of school and that's when it hit me also just exactly what they are doing over there. Tell your friends we pray for them regularly over here in OK, and we thank them for their sacrifice.
